Well this stinks: http://forums.steamp...d.php?t=1650058

I pre-ordered Vietnam the first day. I got my hard copy of BC2 from Amazon. Apparently Steam later fixed it so that you cannot purchase the expansion pack for yourself unless you have the "Steam" version of the game.

Frustrated.

Canceled and customer service said they'll issue a refund. Purchased it from EA Store. Redeemed Code, no Vietnam option. Still frustrated. I want my pew pew. :)

Not seeing that option. Tried running the updater manually as the Administrator. I'll open up a support ticket

Thanks for screen shot!

This was professional technical support at EA suggestion via their Chat:

QUESTION
How do I manually uninstall Battlefield: Bad Company 2?
ANSWER

You can manually uninstall the game by removing the files and registry keys associated with it. To prevent accidental file / program deletion on your system, be sure to follow these steps exactly as they appear.

To delete the save files:

1. Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
2. Select My Documents.
3. Right-click the Battlefield Bad Company 2 folder and select Delete.

To delete the game files (in the default location):

1. Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
2. Select My Computer.
3. Double-click the C: drive.
4. Double-click the Program Files folder.
5. Double-click the ELECTRONIC ARTS folder.
6. Right-click the Battlefield Bad Company 2 folder and choose Delete.
7. Close all open windows.
8. Right-click the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.

To edit the registry and remove Battlefield: Bad Company 2:

On 64-bit systems, like Vista 64 or Windows 7 64bit, registry keys can be found in the following directory:

HKLM\Software\WOW3264Node\Electronic Arts\Battlefield Bad Company 2

1. Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
2. Select Run.
3. Type regedit in the text field and click OK.
4. Click File and select Export.
5. Name the file "Backup" (without the quotation marks) and make sure the Export Range is set to All.
6. Click Save. (You will now be returned to the Registry Editor window.)
7. Click the plus (+) sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
8. Click the plus (+) sign next to Software.
9. Click the plus (+) sign next to Electronic Arts.
10. Right-click the Battlefield Bad Company 2 folder and select Delete.
11. Click the plus (+) sign next to Microsoft.
12. Click the plus (+) sign next to Windows.
13. Click the plus (+) sign next to CurrentVersion.
14. Click the plus (+) sign next to Uninstall.
15. Right-click the key named HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{3AC8457C-0385-4BEA-A959-E095F05D6D67} and select Delete.
16. A Confirm Key Delete window will appear; select Yes.
17. Close the Windows Registry Editor.
18. Go to the following folder: C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information.
* If you cannot find this folder you may have to go to Tools > Folder Settings and click the setting to "SHOW hidden folders."
19. Find the folders with the exact same values as the registry keys above and delete them.
20. Right-click the Recycle Bin and select Empty Recycle Bin.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 should now be completely removed from your system.

Just uninstalled it. Told them it seemed extreme for an install of a expansion pack. Guess there has to be a first for everything.

Well after the uninstall steps. Used ccleaner to remove erroneous files. Still the same result. No Vietnam menu option. Have a 3rd party software firewall. Turned it off and *presto* the updater started downloading.

Now I can play Vietnam \o/.

Played my first 2 maps yesterday in Battlefield Vietnam. All I can say is I wish Bad Company 2 would have been like this in the first place. Liking it A LOT.
